Even adding in the odd banana, they just couldn t get to the point where they felt satisfied
after a meal.
Two more red boxes had been delivered the same way and just as mysteriously as the
first one. They each contained another envelope addressed to Carlton. Repent or face my wrath
was the second message and it made Carlton very thoughtful. Troy suspected the other man
had a theory about who was sending this crap, but Carlton refused to reveal who he thought
it might be.
The third one was the weirdest one so far. Hell hath no fury&
You know who s sending these, don t you? Troy watched Carlton closely.

I think I do. Carlton was as white as the paper the message was written on. I can t
believe he d go to these lengths after all this time, but I can t think of anyone else who would
do this.
Okay, I want to know who you think this is. The curiosity was going to kill him if the
lack of proper food didn t get him first.
I think this may be my ex-boyfriend, Michael Desforges. Carlton swallowed. We
were only together for a few months. I always had the feeling that he was after me for my
money. He was a lot younger than me and we never really got along outside the bedroom.
When I found him in our bed fucking an even younger man, I lost it. He admitted it wasn t
the first time, saying it was because I was so inadequate. I dumped him and even though he
kept trying to get back together again, saying how sorry he was and that he d made a stupid
mistake, I was never even tempted.
Do you think he d be crazy enough to try something like this? It boggled the mind,
but there were some crazy people out there.
I don t know. But I ve racked my brain trying to think who else might be behind this,
and I ve come up with nothing. Carlton shrugged. He just seems to be the only one to fit
the bill.
It makes me wonder what else he s capable of. Troy shuddered.
He really wanted to be rescued before the kidnappers returned. Unfortunately, it was
the most unlikely scenario. There were thousands of small islands like this in the wider area,
and any rescue party wouldn t even know where to start. Even finding the Surprise wouldn t
help, since the kidnappers had taken them God knew where after that. Probably without a
trace.
A few hours later he was sitting on the beach, staring out into the blue vastness of the
ocean, while Carlton was taking a nap in the grove by the pond that had become their
temporary home. Suddenly there was a ship at the horizon. He closed his eyes, rubbed them
and slowly opened them again. Yep, it was still there.
Caaaarlton! He had no idea whether the shout would be enough to wake up his lover,
but he didn t want to take his eyes off the ship.
After another two shouts and several nervous minutes watching the ship come closer,
there was a rustling in the underbrush, followed by a sleepy-looking Carlton.
What? We suddenly have an emergency? Carlton stared at him.

We have visitors. Troy lifted his hand and pointed out to sea.
Carlton s gaze followed and his eyes widened in shock when he saw the ship. It was
now close enough for positive identification. Troy didn t like what he saw.
Oh no. Carlton gasped for air. That s the same one that dropped us off.
I noticed that. Troy wasn t sure what to feel now. I m hoping we can find out what
the hell is going on. Maybe get the fuck out of here.
Carlton just nodded and they stood in silence as the ship approached and dropped its
anchor about two hundred feet out. Troy couldn t be sure, but one of the men aboard looked
like one of their original captors. The ski mask could have hidden anyone, but the wiry body
was the same.
The second man they could see was almost painfully thin and seemed to be wearing a
suit. In this weather?
Yeah, that s him. Carlton s voice shook.
Troy didn t need to ask. He took Carlton s hand, twined their fingers and didn t let go.
They helplessly watched the wiry man lower a small rowboat into the water before both men
got in and started rowing towards the shore.
He couldn t imagine what Carlton must feel. To have anyone mad enough at him to go
to these lengths for revenge was almost unimaginable. And Carlton hadn t even done
anything wrong. If anything, Michael was the one who deserved punishment.
The closer the small boat came, the more details Troy was able to identify. The smaller
wiry man in the ski mask just looked ridiculous. Michael, on the other hand, looked angry
and upset. His bleached blond hair was cut fashionably short, his face was angular and he
had a pinched look about him that made Troy imagine he d just bitten into a lemon. The dark
blue suit was as out of place as the light grey tie and the blue leather loafers that emerged
when Michael awkwardly jumped out of the boat, aiming for dry sand and missing.
It didn t seem to improve his mood.
Michael straightened up, dusted himself off and walked towards them with a small
smirk on his face. His gaze never left Carlton s body.
I m glad you waited for me. Michael only stopped walking when he was almost
inside Carlton s personal space.
Carlton s fingers holding his hand tensed and Troy realised how difficult it was for his
lover not to move away. Personally, he had more problems with making sure he didn t

punch the little fucker in the face. The gall it took to walk up here after all he d done to them,
pretending they were going to have a civilised conversation, was something else.
Well, aren t you going to say something? Michael stole a glance at Troy and flinched.
He probably hadn t liked what he saw in his expression. Good.
I don t quite know what to say. Carlton sounded remarkably calm.
Why am I not surprised? You never were good with words. Michael sighed
